Never too Early to Talk Holiday Hair

As I was re-booking a client last week, I quickly realized that we’re only one haircut-and-color away from Holiday Hair! And I’m sure you know what that means….. It’s not too early to start thinking about the fun looks you’re going to rock around the Christmas tree!

If you are still wanting to “crop it like its hot” (a blog post I published not too long ago), and cut your hair off….  great news! You don’t have to wait until spring to do it! This cut is still trending hottt, and is perfect for a sassy Holiday Look!

Rachel Taylor used bobby pins and a super-cute headband to pull off this glammed-up, cropped, hair style. Another way to dress-up shorter hair, is to add a few waves, then spray with hairspray to keep it in place. If you have a sleek bob think about getting it blown out professionally, so it’s picture perfect! Check out the link at the end of this post to get some great DIY tips, if you choose to style your crop at home for your holiday shindigs!

For a little Va-Va-Voom, try styling big, bouncy waves! Nicole’s hair in this photo should lend some major inspiration! If you’re thinking you’d prefer to leave your hair to the pros, be sure to book your stylist well in advance – holidays are cray-cray busy for us! If you decide to go the DIY route at home, here is a little how-to!
Prep freshly washed hair with a volumizing spray – I recommend one of these salt sprays!

Braids

A good salt spray helps your hair hold its texture longer! Its super light weight and workable. Use your round brush, after spraying in your salt spray on towel-dryed hair, to get volume. Make sure you wind the hair around the brush for extra big waves! I’m a Texas-loving girl, and everything is BIGGER in TX – especially that hair! Don’t be afraid of those big waves, even if you’re not in Texas (wink, wink). Make sure you part the hair in the center, or in a deep, side-part, and finish off your Va-Va-Voom, BIG, bouncy waves with hairspray, so it stays! “The higher the hair, the closer to God,” right???

Braids are STILL trending in a major way, and should absolutely be considered for holiday styles! After studying NYFW, and then looking over other fashion weeks in London, Milan, and Paris, it’s so exciting to see so many still sporting braids! There were messy braids, to fishtail, to milkmaid braids that wrapped around the head. My absolute favorite is just a simple braid that seems almost hidden in a pile of beachy waves, like the one, below.

No matter your hair length or texture type, have fun experimenting and trying new styles this Holiday Season! Take some time for you! Be sure to start working with your stylist, soon – either in-person, or here online – on some looks you might want to pull off this holiday party season. Don’t be afraid to take the plunge and crop your hair off, or go Big with your Texas-size waves, or add a little braid in to your piles of curls. Just have fun and enjoy it!
