October Pink

Because October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, we’re thinking and styling Pink, today, in honor of breast cancer fighters and survivors, and, of course, to help promote awareness. These days, it seems it’s pretty rare for anyone not to know at least one person that has fought, or is currently fighting the disease, which makes it critical to be aware of own bodies, and know essential prevention measures we can take.  For the past couple of years, we have shared the story of our dear friend, Caitlyn Littrell, a then 28-year-old mom of three, who is now a miraculous Survivor of stage IV metastatic breast cancer. Her story is a gripping one of faith, strength, grace, and joy, and we encourage you to read Caitlyn’s post here, if you haven’t done so already!

Awareness is key, but so is funding for research and aiding patients with medical and other expenses (fighting cancer is spendy!). It’s easy to find organizations in your area via a simple search on Google, but here are some organizations that we, at SMP, currently support, if you find it helpful.

National: The American Cancer Society

Local (Klamath Falls, Oregon): Sky Lakes Medical Center

Local (Portland, Oregon): Haley Bellows’s Eff Cancer Movement + Tees

And you know we’re huge fans of Julep, right? Well, you can purchase their “For the Cure 2014” set, pictured and linked below, or shop their “October’s Pink Catalogue” page this month, which will benefit The Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation; it’s a fun, easy way to get involved and help make a difference!

Here is a fantastic infographic that Julep recently helped create with The Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation:

So, with all this said, here is my little splash of “October Pink” in honor of those that are currently fighting, or have fought and conquered breast cancer. You are my Heroes.
